This university was renamed by the government of Andhra Pradesh as the Mahatma Gandhi University by changing the timetable of Act 4 of 1991, which was published in the AP Gazette on 28 April 2008. The University Headquarters were developed in Nalgonda City during the reporting year 2010-11 and its permanent campus is allocated on 240 acres of land allocated to the university on the state road (Nalgonda – Narketpally) in Anneparthy, 7 km from Nalgonda city.
